Welcome, it's a sad day! Am back home! I simply wish we were there again. When I was there I was thinking about what I would have to say/write about my best ever road trip when back home, here I am now writing about when I was there...  This site is a picture site, I wish I could be more of a writer or poet to express in words what I thought and felt about what I have experienced and seen in this 2 months 10000 miles journey across the north American continent, but I am more of a photographer than anything else, and hey, a picture is worth a thousand words (less writing). This journey is about traveling, scenery, land, road, country and last but not least, people!
 Great people we have met, Mexican, American, Canadian and other from foreign country. We have met so many people that will surly forget some names, and I am sorry about that. But, I will nor forget who you were and for some, what you did for us. For sure there were Mindy, Derek and Emma (The dog), Jay & Pat who were all our partner in this nice trip, Dean & Neil, our fabulous host for a few days. Mark, Steve, peter, Anna and so many more...many more people came in and out of our life, many more!

I will write a lot more on this web page than any other page I did before, why? I have seen a lot more than before! Every day or so, at night, I will add a picture and/or text somewhere in this site, I will remember stuff, I will find new picture, remember faces and I will add those, somewhere, somehow!
About this trip: Long story short, well, Carolyn (my girlfriend, NO we are not married!!!!), had a friend who went to Baja a few years ago, of course she loved it. So Carolyn was preparing a 6-month leave off from her very hard French teacher job, she told me; hey, can you take 2 month off work? If yes, why don't we go to Mexico across the USA? We could visit all the southern state at the same time! I said how? She said let's by another Westfalia (VW Camper Van), I said we just sold our VERY nice 1987! She said, let's buy another one, an old one; they are a lot cooler and nicer looking than the very ugly square Vanagon (1980-91) and they are less expensive (That we will see later)! I said, I guess........ Well, after a very hard search (long story) we...NO, I found one, I worked 2 month on it and it was ready....I thought!!!!  Now, where and what the hell is Baja California.....
Ho yea, I forgot, please try to understand the following: A 1973 VW Westfalia is a small van, it's about 14 feet in lengths, as a pop-top that can supposedly sleep one + a lower small bed, a small table, an ice box and a small sink. The engine!!! It's a 1.7Liter Air-cool engine with about 60HP only and that is when it's new, mine is 30 years old, so I guess we had about 40hp left or so! So now, can you imagine a small Bus that weight twice as more than any average car and on top it's heavily loaded. Imagine now the smallest hill in front of you... got to shif in third gear men, second maybe!!!!I  I was sure that Baja was flat!!! NOT... 
Very often you will read camping, driving tips or/and story (Horror one also!!!) meant for those who travel light, by that I mean; small Van, Bus, car, tent camping or even sometime backpacking, in other words, budget camping!!! Some driving tips will only apply to low power old VW Camper, some for small Van or Bus, some to small RV, and some to everyone. Don’t forget that this trip is VW oriented, my old 1973 VW was the third person in that trip, you will understand why later...

Remenber that you can click on most if not all image to get a bigger size, when i say bigger i mean bigger.  You will also see many French sentence in this web site, well, you guess!!! am French speaking!!!  We have more than 250 pictures, most were taking in Baja, not because Baja is the only beautiful place but because we didn't  have time to take some at the beginning of our trip, Bus trouble, stress, bus trouble, stress and so on....
